  1. The files in this archive were not prepared by me, except for this one.
  2. The SHELL.DOC, which is in WordPerfect format, and SHELL.PRN, which was
  3. printed to disk from SHELL.DOC by me, describe how programmers may alter 
  4. their programs to interact with WordPefect's SHELL.COM menuing system
  5. from the WordPerfect Library.

  7. The following is a comment from Richard P. Wilkes [72746,1712] regarding
  8. access to the Shell menu when using a shell type function from another
  9. application program:
  10.  
  11. "Shell changes COMSPEC in the environment to point to SHELLDOS.COM instead of
  12. COMMAND.COM.  A program that executes command.com directly will not return to
  13. shell on exit to dos.  A program that properly goes to COMSPEC will.  Of
  14. course, there is more to being shell-aware than that."

  16. I am not a programmer and cannot comment on technical programming issues.
  17. I am a user of the WordPerfect Library and would be happy to answer 
  18. questions regarding it, from a user's perspective.
